Доклад “Differences between building a consumer vs. enterprise product” *
Consumer and enterprise products often share a technology foundation, but
that’s usually where the similarities end. Consumer products are often developed without direct customer input and instead rely on A/B testing to infer customer preference, while enterprise products require constant input from customers with the help of a sales force. In addition, consumer products generally include a free element in their business model to develop a user base, while enterprise products may even be funded by customers pre-product.
The difference in business models and customer expectations places different importance on iteration speed, creativity, bug tolerance, and other elements of product and organizational development. Adding to the complexity is the emergence of successful Saas models, with some enterprise products effectively being developed and sold as prosumer products, relying on ground-up adoption at the enterprise level. This seminar will explore the differences between consumer and enterprise start-ups at the product and business development level, and the implications for start-up teams considering both options.
